Country's first institution to empower rural women with MBA level education





 The condition of women is very deplorable in rural areas as compared to cities.  Due to social evils, they are often deprived of opportunities for development.  But there are some people who are determined to seriously consider these inequalities of society.  Despite living in the urban environment of Mumbai, Chetna Sinha has become an example today who has made an unprecedented contribution in the empowerment of rural women.


 The uncertainty and pathetic condition of the life of rural women had affected Chetna ji a lot.  Therefore, she went from village to village and did a deep study on the condition of women and for their upliftment, established "Mann Deshi Foundation", through which rural women got an opportunity to become educated, empowered and successful entrepreneurs.  With this ideology, she also established the country's first women's cooperative bank in 1997, which made them financially strong.  The foundation created the country's first Business School (Indigenous MBA) for rural women in 2007 which helped them immensely in becoming a successful entrepreneur.  Along with this, Chetna ji also started broadcasting community radio run by rural women which helped them to put their ideas in front of the country.


 This effort of Chetna ji was also encouraged by the multinational company Accenture and gave them financial and technical assistance.  Today "Mann Deshi Foundation" has been recognized globally.  Chetna ji also got the opportunity to preside over the 48th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum held in Switzerland in January 2018.  "Mann Desi Foundation" has set a target to displace one million women entrepreneurs by the year 2022.

शहरों की अपेक्षाकृत ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में महिलाओं की स्थिति बड़ी ही शोचनीय होती है। सामाजिक कुरीतियों के कारण उन्हें अक्सर विकास के अवसरों से वंचित रहना पड़ता है। लेकिन कुछ लोग ऐसे भी होते हैं जो समाज की इन विषमताओं पर गंभीरता से विचार करने के लिए कृतसंकल्प होते हैं। मुंबई के शहरी वातावरण में रहने के बावजूद चेतना सिन्हा आज एक ऐसी मिसाल बन गयी हैं जिन्होंने ग्रामीण महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण में अपना अभूतपूर्व योगदान दिया है।


ग्रामीण महिलाओं के जीवन की अनिश्चितता एवं दयनीय स्थिति ने ही चेतना जी को काफी प्रभावित किया था। अतः इन्होंने गाँव-गाँव जाकर महिलाओं की स्थिति पर गहन अध्ययन किया और उनके उत्थान के लिए "माण देशी फाउंडेशन" की स्थापना की जिसके द्वारा ग्रामीण महिलाओं को शिक्षित, सशक्त और सफल उद्यमी बनने का मौका मिला। अपनी इसी विचार धारा के साथ इन्होंने 1997 में देश की पहली महिला सहकारी बैंक की भी स्थापना की जिससे इन्हें आर्थिक रूप से मज़बूत किया। इस फाउंडेशन ने 2007 में ग्रामीण महिलाओं के लिए देश के पहले बिजनेस स्कूल (देशी MBA) बनाया जिसने उन्हें एक सफल उद्यमी बनने में भरपूर सहायता दी। इसके साथ ही चेतना जी ने ग्रामीण महिलाओं द्वारा संचालित सामुदायिक रेडियो का प्रसारण भी शुरू किया जिसने इन्हें अपने विचारों को देश के सामने रखने में मदद की।


चेतना जी के इस प्रयास को बहुराष्ट्रीय कंपनी Accenture ने भी प्रोत्साहित कर इन्हें आर्थिक और तकनीकी सहायता दी। आज "मान देशी फाउंडेशन" को विश्व स्तर पर मान्यता मिल चुकी है। चेतना जी को जनवरी 2018 में स्विट्जरलैंड में हुए विश्व आर्थिक मंच की 48वीं वार्षिक बैठक में अध्यक्षता करने का भी सुअवसर भी मिला। "माण देशी फाउंडेशन" साल 2022 तक दस लाख महिला उद्यमियों को विस्थापित करने का लक्ष्य बना चुकी है।
